Klaus Günter Lunze (born January 18, 1917 in Großschönau ; † January 19, 2010 in Dresden ) was a German electrical engineer and university professor . Lunze became known, among other things, for his textbooks on the basics of electrical engineering, which were considered standard works throughout Germany for decades. His lectures, which he used to illustrate with numerous experiments, were also of high didactic quality.

Life

Klaus Lunze studied from 1937 to 1946 - interrupted by military service from 1939 to 1945 - electrical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden (from 1961 Technical University ). Heinrich Barkhausen was one of his teachers . Following his studies, which he completed as a graduate engineer, Lunze became assistant to Heinz Schönfeld in 1946 and senior assistant in 1951 . After Schönfeld fled to the Federal Republic in 1952, Lunze took over his teaching duties in 1952. In the same year he received his doctorate in engineering . From 1953 Lunze took over a professorship with a teaching position for general electrical engineering at the TH Dresden. 1959 followed his habilitation to Dr.-Ing. habil.

In 1960, Lunze became a professor with a teaching position and from 1964 to 1966 he was also dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. As the successor to Georg Mierdel , Lunze became professor with a chair in 1966 and from 1969 until his retirement in 1982 full professor for general electrical engineering and head of the Institute for General Electrical Engineering , today the Institute for Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (IEE).
