Klaus Merkel (painter)

Klaus Merkel (born November 8, 1953 in Heidelberg ) is a German painter and university professor .

Life

From 1975 to 1980 Merkel studied painting with Peter Dreher at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe / Freiburg . From 1988 to 1989 he was visiting professor for painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe / Freiburg. He taught at the Akademia Arta Bucharest in 1996/1997 and from 1997 to 2000 he was visiting professor at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon .

From 2006 to 2009 Merkel taught at the Free University for Graphic Design & Fine Arts in Freiburg . Since 2009 he has held a professorship for painting at the Art Academy in Münster .

Klaus Merkel is a member of the German Association of Artists . He lives in Schallstadt-Wolfenweiler .
