Klaus Schöch (born July 4, 1947 in Göfis ; † August 3, 2008 in Feldkirch ) was an Austrian actor .

Life

Klaus Schöch completed a commercial apprenticeship and was initially also active in this profession. It was only relatively late that he came through cabaret ; he was an actor together with Sepp Längle in the Wühlmäusen , a Vorarlberg cabaret ensemble from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

In 1985 the father left a comparatively secure professional career and took the risk of taking up acting as a profession. In 1989 he passed the stage examination. Until 1990 he was a permanent member of the ensemble in the Theater am Kirchplatz in Schaan in Liechtenstein .

Since 1990 Schöch has worked as a freelance actor for various companies such as the Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna , the Residenztheater in Munich or in his Vorarlberg homeland at the Vorarlberger Landestheater and the Bregenz Festival . He also worked as a singer in various operettas.

He has appeared in numerous radio plays for Austrian Radio . The Vorarlberg radio play series "Scheffknecht und Breuss" by Michael Köhlmeier , in which Schöch played Hermann Scheffknecht, became particularly well known . With the start of the daily local broadcast Vorarlberg Today , Klaus Schöch took on the role of "Nochejasser" in 1988, in which he reflected on current events from the "Ländle" in over 800 episodes almost every Wednesday.

Schöch retired in 2007, but continued to work on projects. He died on August 3, 2008 of complications from a heart attack , which he suffered unexpectedly during a Sunday walk. The funeral service - with a large mourning community, including many theater people and artists - took place five days later.

reception

Wolfgang Burtscher , Vorarlberger ORF regional director at the time of Schöch's death, stated in a first statement on record that Schöch “enjoyed extraordinary popularity” with the audience “despite the critical attitude of his contributions” and “became extremely popular” for his own "Great quality as a cabaret artist and actor" speak.

Ten years after his death, the Vorarlberger Nachrichten described Klaus Schöch as a “Vorarlberg audience favorite, folk actor and character with wit and understanding”.
