The Klecks-Theater Hannover is a theater for children and young people , which is located in the listed Alten Magazin in the southern part of Hannover .

Theater work

The Klecks-Theater was founded in 1987 by Harald Schandry as a mobile facility in the tradition of the so-called emancipatory children's and youth theater. In 1994 the children's and youth theater, which until then had to do without a permanent venue, moved into the Altes Magazin venue . With an average of 25,000 spectators per year, the venue, which is also used by the Hannoversche Kammerspiele, is one of the most popular free theaters in Lower Saxony .

Outside of its venue, the theater also plays on a mobile basis in kindergartens, schools, cultural centers, leisure centers and other theaters. It also appears at festivals, correctional facilities, and open air events. The pieces are made suitable for different venues. The productions rely less on elaborate stage concepts than on the actors.

Content

The contents of the theater are always reflections on life with its complex conditions. The productions for adolescents aim to create a relevant reference to the age-specific concerns of adolescents.

The children take the children's pieces seriously in an easy way and meet them at eye level. The theater would like to offer children and young people practice areas to refine their empathic, emotional and communicative potential. But fables , bizarre stories and plays are also produced that are only intended for entertainment.

stage

The stage is used as a peep box stage , but also enables complete room concepts. Depending on the structure, 149 places are possible. However, the number of viewers is often limited to a smaller number in order to create a denser atmosphere.

Participation in theater meetings

In 1995 the theater received an invitation to the North German Theatertreffen in Schwerin with “Balders Reise”. In 2004 it was a finalist at the Lower Saxony Lotto Festival with “Parrotienjacket” by Ad de Bont , in 2005 it was a finalist with “Which drug suits me?” By Kai Hensel . In 2007 it was again a finalist with the co-production Ka / hannoversche kammerspiele “Durst” based on Michael Kumpfmüller and in 2008 with “Der Kick” by Gesine Schmidt and Andres Veiel . In 2008 an invitation to the North German Theatertreffen in Oldenburg with “Der Kick” followed. In 2009 the theater was invited to the 16th Domino Festival for children and youth theater with the play “First Hour” by Jörg Menke-Peitzmeyer .
