from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kleihues + Kleihues is a German architecture firm founded in 1996 with headquarters in Berlin-Charlottenburg .

history

The office was founded in 1996 by Josef Paul Kleihues and Jan Kleihues with Norbert Hensel and goes back to the establishment of the architect and urban planner Josef Paul Kleihues, which has existed since 1962 . Josef P. Kleihues and Jan Kleihues are responsible for the design. Both design independently, only the infrastructure is shared. After the death of Josef Paul Kleihues in summer 2004, Jan Kleihues and Norbert Hensel continue the office. Further partners are Michael Alshut, Johannes Kressner and Götz Kern. The company therefore operates entirely under the name of Kleihues + Kleihues - Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH .

former garbage loading station

Locations are maintained in Berlin , Dülmen - Rorup and Oslo . The Berlin office is located in a former garbage loading station in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf at the confluence of the Spree , Landwehr Canal and Charlottenburg connecting canal . The building was erected by Paul Baumgarten in 1935/1936 and is a listed building as an example of New Building . A branch in Tripoli , where the office was commissioned to build Tower 69 , was closed in 2011. The Tower 69 should be 277 meters and 69 storeys the tallest building in Africa. However, the project did not get beyond setting up the construction site. In 2016, the headquarters of the Federal Intelligence Service in Berlin were completed according to the master plan by Jan Kleihues . With a final approved total budget of 1.086 billion euros, the BND new building complex is the federal government's largest construction project to date.

A large part of the orders is the result of competitions. The range of tasks includes the planning and construction management of buildings and interiors, the conception of outdoor facilities, the development of urban planning solutions and the preparation of expert reports. The office has been working with a certified management system according to the current DIN EN ISO 9001: 2015 since 2003. In 2008 the company became a member of the German Society for Sustainable Building (DGNB).
