Little America (partly as Little America reported on street signs) is a village in the municipality Wietzendorf in Heidekreis , Lower Saxony .
location
Little America lies in the Lüneburg Heath . On the western edge of the town are the federal road 3 and some ponds that have developed from the former clarification ponds of the potato starch factory into a biotope worth seeing.
The area around these ponds is part of the Wietzendorfer Moor nature reserve . Immediately afterwards is the Großes Moor nature reserve near Becklingen , of which only a few hectares are in the area of Little America.
Culture
Every year there is an Easter bonfire here - for the Wietzendorf area and the surrounding area.
economy
In the small village there is Emsland Strength GmbH , which mainly produces potato starch . Right next to it, ABR Agrar Bio Recycling GmbH has settled and built one of the largest biogas plants in Germany.
There are also some farms. Due to the boggy soil conditions, the use as grassland is predominant in the western area and milk production is the most important branch of operation on all farms. There is a so-called milk filling station here , where end customers can purchase fresh milk from a machine.
Others
In Little America there are no street names, only house numbers that residents, postmen, vendors and visitors have to use for orientation.
