The small-flowered earth smoke ( Fumaria parviflora ) is a species of the genus Fumaria in the subfamily of the earth smoke plants (Fumarioideae) within the poppy family (Papaveraceae). It is distributed from Europe across the Mediterranean to the Canary Islands and Southwest Asia.

The small-flowered fume is an annual herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 15 to 30 centimeters. The leaflets are linear and runny.

The flowering period extends from June to September. On an inflorescence stem there is a racemose inflorescence that contains only a few flowers. The bracts are as long as the fruit stalks. The flowers are whitish and have a dark red tip and dark wings. The sepals are 0.5 to 1 mm long, at most ¼ as long as the flower (without spur).

The fruit is wrinkled-rough, pointed and rounded-egg-shaped.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28, 32 or 48.

Occurrence

The small-flowered terrestrial smoke is a western European- Mediterranean floral element . Its distribution area extends from the Canary Islands across northwestern North Africa and western Europe north to Scotland . To the east it stretches across the entire Mediterranean region, across the Balkan Peninsula and northeast Ukraine to Southwest Asia .

The small-flowered terrestrial smoke occurs rarely and inconsistently in Germany and the adjacent areas in arable weed corridors, in gardens or on paths, on warm, dry, stony and clayey soils rich in nutrients and bases . He is a heat-loving plant. In southern Europe , the small-flowered earth smoke is found mainly in wheat fields.
