Small Iris pumila ( Iris histrioides ) is a plant type from the kind of irises ( Iris ) within the family of the Iridaceae (Iridaceae).

features

It is a perennial herbaceous plant that forms onions as persistence organs. The leaves appear only after the flowers . It is initially 10 to 20 centimeters high with the leaves later up to 50 centimeters. The flowers are blue or purple-blue. The hanging leaves are horizontal, the plate is almost circular, the median is yellow. At the bottom there is a white, blue-dotted and veined spot, which is set off from the nail by a clear bay. The standards are erect. The two bracts are thin and paper-like, their transverse nerves are clearly visible.

Flowering time is from March to April.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

distribution

The homeland of the Iris histrioides are mountain slopes and open coniferous forests in northern Turkey .
