The Kleine Hornkopf is 3194  m above sea level. A. high mountain peaks of the Schober group in the Spittal an der Drau district ( Carinthia ).

The Kleine Hornkopf is located in the center of the Schobergruppe on the municipality border between Heiligenblut am Großglockner in the northwest and Großkirchheim in the southeast. It is located between the staple heads or the lowest staple head ( 3076  m above sea level ) in the southwest and the Großer Hornkopf ( 3251  m above sea level ) in the north-northeast, with the small horn head from the staple heads through the Klammerscharte ( 2930  m above sea level) A. ) is separated. In addition to the west-south-west ridge that runs to Klammerscharte and the connecting ridge to the Großer Hornkopf, the Kleine Hornkopf has a short west ridge and a long south ridge that slopes down to the Adolf-Noßberger hut on the Gradensee and the valley of the Gradenbach . To the west of the Kleiner Hornkopf, the Gössnitzkees extends between the Klammerköpf and the Kleiner and Großer Hornkopf. In addition to the Adolf-Noßberger-Hütte, there is another nearby refuge , the Elberfelder Hütte , to the northwest .

Promotion opportunities

The normal route to the Kleine Hornkopf leads from the Adolf-Noßberger-Hütte north to the Klammerscharte. From here, the ascent takes place over the west-southwest ridge, initially over large blocks and in the final ascent close to the ridge (not difficult ). The ascent via the south-western flank is much more difficult, with the entry below the Klammerscharte ( II ). The south ridge has difficulties up to IV- . The transition to the Großer Hornkopf can also be made via Klammerscharte and Kleine Hornkopf ( II + ).
