The Kleine Siebersteinsteich or Siebersteinteich is a 1.8 hectare artificial pond in the Harz that has existed since around 1800 . It is located near Rieder and Ballenstedt in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt .
The pond, which is part of the Saxony-Anhalt dam operation, is used for fishing , flood protection , passive local recreation and low water levels .
Geographical location
The Kleine Siebersteinsteich is located in the Lower Harz in the wooded area of the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . It is located about 3 km west of the center of Ballenstedt and 2.5 km southeast of that of the Ballenstedt district of Rieder at about 265 m above sea level. NHN . The Siebersteinsbach , whose water flows through the Bicklingsbach to the Bode , is dammed in the reservoir . The Große Siebersteinteich is located about 1.8 km southwest of the stream upstream .
Dam and basin
The dam is an earth dam with a core seal. It was probably raised around 1800; a renovation took place from 1969 to 1973. The dam is 7.6 m high, around 80 m long at the crown and around 4 m wide.
The reservoir is 1.8 hectares in size. Its storage space can hold 46,000 m³ of water.
leisure
The Kleine Siebersteinsteich is used by residents of the surrounding villages as well as tourists as a bathing opportunity. The reason for this lies in the flat, clean water, the secluded location and the view of the surrounding mountains.
