history
1730 was at the request of King Louis XV. under the direction of Henri Anthès a manufactory for edged weapons was established on the grounds of the Grand Chapitre of Strasbourg on the Ehn mountain stream . A forge's hammer, a grinding shop as well as accommodation and workshops for the workers were built. The knowledge of production was betrayed by manufacturing workers from Solingen , who became the first workers. Initially the blades were made with Manufacture Royale d'Alsace , later with Klingenthalsigned. The arms manufacture led to growth and prosperity until the middle of the 19th century. After relocating arms production to the French hinterland, the Coulaux family took over the manufacture and mainly produced agricultural implements such as scythes and sickles .
In 1962 production had to be stopped. Today there is a museum about the manufacture in the former school house of the village.
