course

The source of the Klinke is to the east of the Hängelsberge , formed in the Ice Age , at a level of 87 meters above sea level on the western outskirts of Magdeburg. In the area of the source the river is clear and fast flowing and the stream bed is densely lined with trees. The constant shade prevents any noteworthy aquatic vegetation. On its further course, the latch feeds the Ottersleber pond and then reaches the built-up area of Magdeburg. On its way to the Elbe, the Klinke flows through the districts of Ottersleben , Lemsdorf , Sudenburg , Leipziger Straße , Altstadt and Buckau . It mostly flows in an easterly direction, only in Lemsdorf does it swivel significantly to the north. Long stretches of the river have been straightened and the bank has been partially paved with stones. There are also completely piped sections, for example in the Buckauer Straße area . Despite the course through the urban area, about half of the pawl leads through trees on the bank. The river flows into the Elbe in the Buckau Klosterberge-Garten.
