Kati Klinzing

Kati Klinzing (born November 9, 1982 in Schmalkalden ) is a former German skeleton pilot .

Kati Klinzing from BSR Rennsteig Oberhof was initially a luge competitor before switching to skeleton. She made her international debut in November 2001 in a race in the European Skeleton Cup , in which she was fourth in Winterberg . A year later she achieved a podium place for the first time in the same place and in the same competition as third. In 2003 Klinzing became German Junior Champion. Her two subsequent European Cup races in January 2003 in Altenberg and Königssee she finished second behind Julia Eichhorn . At the end of the season that was also the order in the overall ranking. A year later she finished the European Cup season in third place. In November 2005 Klinzing celebrated her first victory in a European Cup race in Igls . In December of the same year Klinzing took part in her first World Cup race in Sigulda , where she finished 20th and last in the finals. In 2006 she won the bronze medal at the German Championships. She finished fourth at the Junior World Championships in Igls and then won her second European Cup race in Winterberg. Klinzing was also nominated for the 2006/07 Skeleton World Cup , but after disappointing results in the first two races, Julia Eichhorn and Sebastian Haupt had to return home early. As a result, Kati Kinzling ended her career as a skeleton pilot.
