history

South of Monthois (between the villages of Challerange and Séchault, on the Alin brook), not far from the Cistercian monastery Chéry , Balduin von Autry donated the nunnery Notre-Dame des Rosiers (also: Roziers or Rozières , from French roseau "reed"), which first started with sisters the Benedictine Abbey of Avenay was settled and was demonstrably a Cistercian abbey from 1241. In 1244 the convent near Reims , where they owned a house, founded the Clairmarais monastery . In 1389 the abbey was replaced by a monastery, which was the priory of Clairvaux until it was dissolved by the French Revolution . The remaining Gothic building remains, including the 47 meter long nave, are used privately as "Castle Roziers" (residential building) and have been a listed building since 1956.
