The provost and pilgrimage church Mariánská Týnice (German Maria Teinitz ) is located in Mariánský Týnec near Kralovice in the Czech Republic .

history

The place was already settled in the 13th century. The abbot of the Cistercian monastery in Plasy Andreas Troyer (1648-1699) founded the end of the 17th century provost . In 1711 the abbot Eugen Tyttl laid the foundation stone of the pilgrimage church of the Annunciation , which was designed by Johann Blasius Santini-Aichl . After the dissolution of the Plasy monastery (1785) in the course of the Josephine reforms , the provost was administered by the religious fund. In 1826 it came into the possession of the Metternich family .

Since 1952 the museum and picture gallery of the northern Pilsen region have been located here with permanent exhibitions and ethnographic and art-historical collections (open except Mondays from 9 a.m., closed on Saturdays and Sundays in winter).

Construction and plant

Church floor plan
The inside of the church

The floor plan of the church is reminiscent of the shape of the Greek cross with equal arms with a central square room. The axis of the church is directed towards the Plasy Monastery . Of the altars, apart from the high altar, only one remains, painted on the wall with the coat of arms of the last Abbot Celestin Werner from Plass.

The handling is decorated with frescoes from the life of the Virgin Mary by Franz Julius Lux. In the corner chapels there are high quality paintings, probably by Josef Kramolín .

The construction of the provost house was completed in 1764 under the Plasser Abbot Fortunát Hartmann. The ceiling paintings in the refectory show the legend of Roman von Týnice and Maria, who gave herbs to Cistercians. The wall paintings show twelve abbots and pictures of the monasteries in Plasy and Mariánská Týnice.
