The Santissima Trinità del Legno Monastery is a former Cistercian monastery in Calabria , Italy .

location

The monastery was between Corigliano Calabro and Acri in the province of Cosenza .

history

The Archbishop of Rossano , Kosmas , who was previously the archimandrite of the Greek monastery of S. Maria del Patire, founded the abbey in 1185, possibly with the later support of King Tankred of Lecce , which after a splinter of the Holy Cross that was kept there in the following years, del Legno was called. The settling monks came from the monastery of Santo Stefano del Bosco and the monastery thus belonged to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey . Despite the fame of the cross particle, little is known about the monastery. In 1663 it joined the Calabrian-Lucan Cistercian Congregation, which was founded in the same year. The monastery went under between this time and the end of the 18th century, but there are no documents about it.

Plant and buildings

Nothing can be determined about the monastery complex.
