The Knill Group is an Austrian group of companies based in Weiz in Styria .

history

It goes back to the blade forge Mosdorfer , founded in 1712 , which produced sabers , sickles and blades . In the middle of the 18th century, the forge was expanded into a series production company. At that time, blade production in Mosdorf achieved a monopoly in supplying the imperial army with sabers. In 1784 the concession for sickle production was obtained.

In 1929 Friedrich Knill married Moritz Mosdorfer's second daughter. He became the managing director of Mosdorfer GmbH and in 1949 received the first order for overhead line fittings , which have become the company's main field of activity. In 1974 his son Gunther Knill took over the management. In the following decades the company expanded through the acquisition of Lorünser (1985), Elsta Mosdorfer (1989), Rosendahl (1997), CCL Systems (1999), Kurt GÖHRE GmbH & Co KG (2002), Nextrom (2005), BM Battery Machines (2010), Almatec (2012) and Graph Solutions (2014).

Gunther Knill's sons Christian and Georg Knill have been running the group since 2002 .
