Knud Krakow

Knud Krakau (born June 25, 1934 in Stettin ) is a German lawyer , political scientist and professor emeritus at the Free University of Berlin .

After the first state examination in law in 1957, Krakow studied at Harvard University , where he obtained a Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) . From 1961 to 1973 he was a research assistant, research assistant and senior researcher at the Institute for Foreign Policy / Research Center for International Law and Foreign Public Law at the University of Hamburg . In 1967 the doctorate took place . In 1968 he passed the second state examination in law. In 1972 he completed his habilitation in political science as well as in international law and foreign public law . From 1973 to 1974 he was visiting professor for political science at the University of Trier .

Since 1974 Krakow has been Professor of Modern History, with a special focus on the history of North America, at the Free University of Berlin. During this time he was a Fellow in Residence at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC from 1977 to 1978, a Fulbright 40th Anniversary Distinguished Fellow in 1986 and a Visiting Fellow at Stanford University in 1994 . He retired on September 30, 2000 .
