Knut Aastad Bråten

Knut Aastad Bråten (* 1976 ) is a Norwegian journalist and politician of the social liberal party Venstre . From January to May 2020 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture.

Life

From 1996 Bråten studied ethnology , history and political science at the University of Oslo . In 2006 he obtained a university degree in cultural history . From 2003 he worked as a freelance journalist for various publications. From 2007 to 2013 he was an editor at the magazine Folkemusikk , which deals with topics related to folk music and folk dance . He then became editor of Syn og Segn , a quarterly cultural and political magazine. From 2019 he also worked as a columnist for the daily newspaper Nations . Bråten has also been employed as a music teacher several times, from 2011 to 2012 he taught at the Norwegian Academy of Music .

In the period from 1998 to 2015 he released several music CDs with his brother Ole. For the work Til Ragna , published in 2015, he was nominated for the Spellemann Prize in the folk music category. He plays the Langeleik instrument . With his partner, the journalist and former Høyre State Secretary Knut Olav Åmås , he published the book New York - 100 unike opplevelser ( German : New York - 100 unique experiences ).

From 2016 to 2019 he was a member of the local parliament of North Aurdal . On January 24, 2020, he was appointed State Secretary in the Solberg government, where he was employed in the Ministry of Culture under Minister Abid Raja . On May 7, 2020, he announced his retirement.
