Koçan is a Yazidi village in southeastern Turkey . The village is located about 12 km southeast of Midyat in the Midyat district of the same name in the Mardin province . The place is located in the Tur Abdin mountain range in Southeast Anatolia . Koçan is now an abandoned and derelict village.

Koçan is about 2 km southwest of the D 380, to the E 90 in the south it is just over 20 km. Midyat is 10 km to the north-north-west. After Cizre in the east is 50 km. The village of Koçan is also about 2 km west of Çayırlı (Kefnas) and about 2 km northwest of Çörekli (Denwan).

history

Koçan was one of the numerous settlements of the Ezidi ( Yazidis ) in this area. Up until 20 years ago, around 20 families lived in the village. The inhabitants of the village were all Yazidis.
