Koča Anđelković

Koča Anđelković (* 1755 in Jagodina ; † 1788 in Tekija ) was a Serbian militant leader, captain and freedom fighter in the Austro-Turkish War 1788-1791 .

Anđelković was a cattle dealer. Half a year before the outbreak of war he and his family fled to Kovin near the Danube . Before the war began, volunteers gathered under his leadership to fight on the side of the Austrians against the Ottoman occupiers. Their goal was to capture Belgrade from the Pomoravlje area to the south . He was raised to the rank of captain by Emperor Joseph II . After six months of fighting, the Koča uprising , he was captured by the Ottomans on September 7, 1788 near Brzaska in the Banat , in today's Serbia , and beheaded in November. The Turks carried his head all over Tekija.
