Pomoravlje ( Serbian : Поморавски округ, Pomoravski okrug ) is an administrative district or administrative district in the central part of the Serbian heartland. The area is named after the Morava River , which flows through it from south to north.

It consists of the following municipalities ( opštine ):

According to the 2002 census, this district has a population of 312,160. The main administrative seat is the city of Jagodina .

Jagodina's cityscape is partly reminiscent of the 19th century. For buildings in the city such as Hajduk Veljko's house from the 17th century, time seems to have stood still. Also interesting is the Church of the Archangel Michael and the foundation of Prince Miloš Obrenović from 1818.

Josanica Monastery was built in the late 17th century at the time of Prince Đurađ Branković and is one of the most beautiful buildings in this region.

The area around Ćuprija is characterized by two very old buildings, the Ravanica Monastery and the Church of the Assumption, which are foundations of Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović and were built between 1375 and 1377.

After the battle on the Amselfeld , in which the prince fell, these sanctuaries were saved from destruction. In 1690 this part of Serbia was partially liberated from the rule of the Ottomans .

The Resava Monastery, founded by Stefan Lazarević , was built between 1407 and 1418 and is located in the vicinity of Despotovac . In the 15th century there was the Resava School in this monastery, where old Serbian documents and writings were translated. Constantine the philosopher wrote his works in this monastery.

The main focus of economic activity in the district is the “Jagodina” cable factory and one of the largest breweries in Europe, “Jagodinska Pivara”.
