Kobyłka is a town in the Wołomiński powiat in the Masovian Voivodeship , Poland . It is the seat of the municipality of the same name ( Gmina miejska ).

geography

Kobyłka is located 17 km northeast of Warsaw and borders directly on the district town of Wołomin .
The municipality has an area of ​​20.05 km². 47% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 21% is covered with forest.

Droga wojewódzka 634 runs through the municipality and there are two train stations.

history

The first written mention of Kobyłka comes from 1415 and refers to the existence of a parish church. In the 15th century the place was mentioned under the name Targowa Wola . From the 18th century the names Kobyłka, Kobiałka and Kobełka became common. the 1755 Jesuits settled in Kobyłka. The Church of the Holy Trinity ( Kościół Świętej Trójcy ) was built between 1736 and 1740, and was consecrated in 1741. In 1755 the Jesuits settled in the city and in 1756 set up a printing shop. Works printed there have not been preserved. In 1773 the Jesuit order was dissolved.

Between 1928 and 1953 Kobyłka was the seat of a rural community in the Radzymin powiat in the Warsaw Voivodeship . From 1954 Kobyłka was the seat of the Gromada Kobyłka and received the status of an Osiedle (settlement) on January 1, 1957 and finally town charter on January 1, 1969.

From 1975 to 1998 Ząbki was part of the Warsaw Voivodeship .

Surname

In the 15th century the name of the village Targowa was Wola . It was not until the 18th century that the name forms Kobyłka , Kobiałka and Kobełka appeared.

The city is divided into the following parts: Antolek, Mareta, Grabicz, Kobylak, Kolonia Chór, Sosnówek, Zalasek, Piotrówek, Jędrzejek, Maciołki, Stefanówka, Źródnik.

education

The municipality has seven kindergartens ( Przedszkole ), three primary schools ( szkoła podstawowa ) and two middle schools ( gimnazjum ). Part of the facility is privately or church-owned.
