The Wooden Spoon GmbH is a German food service chain , headquartered in Lingen (Ems) , Lower Saxony . The chain offers grilled chicken, currywurst, various burgers, salads, French fries and soft drinks.

In 2012, according to the company, a total of 3 million half grilled chickens , 6.7 million hamburgers , 1.4 million sausages , 0.4 million servings of lettuce , around 1,000 tons of French fries and 1.4 million liters of drinks were sold.

In 2012, the fast food restaurant counted around 11.5 million guests in around 90 restaurants.

history

The first wooden spoon restaurant was founded in 1961 by Martha van den Berg and her first husband Heinrich Lobenberg in Wilhelmshaven . After he died a few years later, she married Clemens van den Berg from the Netherlands in 1969. He joined the company and ran it together with his wife.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the number of branches increased from 20 to around 120.

In 2010 the youngest daughter Julia joined the company's management team with her husband Torsten Hessler. To this day Kochlöffel is owner-managed by the founding family .

expansion

In Poland, Kochlöffel was represented under the name "conieco." From 1995 to the end of 2015; in Turkey since September 2010 in cooperation with a master's licensee .

Today the company is represented exclusively in Germany with around 90 restaurants.

franchise

The company has been issuing licenses for its fast-food restaurant concept since 1995. A third of all businesses are now run by franchise partners. Kochlöffel is a full member of the German Franchise Association .
