Coat of arms of the von Kochtizky family

Kochtizky is the name of an old, baronial Silesian noble family .

history

In 1307, Reijntius (Reinicke) von Losiny acquired Gut Kochticz (also Kochczütz) near Lublinitz in Upper Silesia and thereupon adopted the name Kochtizky (other spellings were Kochtitzky or Kochticzky . In Austrian sources, however, the spelling Kochticky is often found ). The family originally came from Losiny (German: Ullersdorf) in Moravia , where they called themselves both von Losiny and von Mutišov .

Johann von Kochtizky is said to have held the title of baron as early as 1570 . Evidently, his five grandchildren received admission to the baron on March 26, 1610. The family owned extensive estates in Upper Silesia (including the small towns of Lublinitz, Ujest and Cosel and the Turawa dominion ). Kochtizky's grave monuments can be found in the churches of Lubetzko (Johann, † 1549), Lublinitz (Johann, † 1591) and in St. Johannis zu Liegnitz (Johannes Christoph Freiherr, † 1634). One branch of the family entered the Saxon service in the 18th century.
