Kodarma or Koderma ( Hindi कोडरमा ) is a city in the north of the Indian state of Jharkhand near the border with the state of Bihar . The city is the capital of the Kodarma district of the same name . Kodarma is administered as a Nagar Panchayat ; the city is divided into 11 wards .
Location and climate
The city of Kodarma is approx. 165 km (driving distance) in a northerly direction from the metropolis of Ranchi and is approx. 395 m above sea level. Despite high annual precipitation (approx. 1015 mm / year), which almost exclusively falls during the summer monsoon season , the climate is predominantly hot and dry.

Kodarma has a gender ratio of 903 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus of a good 10%, which is usual for India. The literacy rate was 80.1% in 2011. Almost 75% of the population are Hindus , approx. 24% are Muslims and approx. 1% belong to another or no religion; 15.6% of the population are children under 6 years of age.
