The Kodori Mountains ( Russian Кодорский хребет ; Georgian კოდორის ქედი ) is a mountain range in Abkhazia and Mingrelia and Upper Svaneti in northwest Georgia .

The mountain range extends over a length of 75 km in a west-east direction south of the western main ridge of the Greater Caucasus . In the northeast, the Kodori Mountains branches off from the Kaukausus main ridge. In this area the mountain range in the Moguaschircha reaches a maximum height of 3852  m . In the eastern part it forms the border between the administrative regions of Abkhazia and Mingrelia and Upper Svaneti. It is demarcated in the northwest by the river valley of the Kodori and its source river Sakeni . The western border is formed by the Enguri and its right tributary, the Nenskra . The mountain range consists mainly of volcanic rock , mica schist and sandstone . The slopes are wooded. Mountain meadow vegetation grows in ridges. In the southern foothills there are hard coal deposits that are exploited near Tqwartscheli .
