Koina is a town in the West African state of Gambia .

According to a calculation for 2013, there are around 4089 inhabitants, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 3300.

geography

Koina, in the Upper River Region , Kantora District , is located on the southern bank of the Gambia River , about nine kilometers northeast of Fatoto and about 42 kilometers northeast of Basse Santa Su . Koina, the easternmost town in Gambia, is about two and a half kilometers from the border with Senegal . The larger city of Tambacounda in Senegal is about 37 kilometers northeast.
