Önder Özden Turacı (born July 14, 1981 in Liège ) is a former football player with Turkish and Belgian citizenship.

Career

society

At the age of six he moved from RFC Tilleur to the youth department of Standard Liège . There he went through several youth teams and then played on loan for some lower-class clubs, including CS Visé . From 2000 to 2002 he was loaned to RAA La Louvière and was able to attract attention there. After 49 appearances for the club, he returned to Standard for the 2002/03 season. He was able to conquer a regular place as a right defender and started 27 times in the league.

In 2004 Önder moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul for 1.7 million euros after a successful season at Standard Liège and signed a four-year contract with the new Turkish champions.

After Önder had left Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2010, he played in turn for the clubs Kayserispor , Göztepe Izmir and Sarıyer SK . In spring 2010 he moved to the second division Şanlıurfaspor .

In summer 2014 he moved within the league to the relegated Antalyaspor . Without having played a competitive game, he left this club early at the end of January 2015. During the 2015/16 winter break, Turaci joined KSK Hasselt and six months later he went to RFC Seraing . The defender ended his career there in the summer of 2017.

National team

Önder, who was born in Belgium to Turkish parents, completed 14 missions in the Belgian U-21 . In the summer of 2004 he was appointed to the 28-strong Turkish squad for a number of friendly matches. After ongoing arguments with FIFA about his wish to play for the senior national team of Turkey , Önder decided in January 2007 to play for Belgium in order to be able to take part in international tournaments. He has both Belgian and Turkish citizenship. His appearances in the Belgian U-21 team blocked his way into the Turkish national team for several years, since according to the FIFA statutes at the time, a youth player had to make a binding decision on a country before he was 21 years old. After this regulation was lifted in mid-2009, he made three appearances in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup .
