Kolbeinn Óttarsson Proppé

Kolbeinn Óttarsson Proppé (born December 19, 1972 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic journalist and politician ( left-green movement ).

Life

Kolbeinn is a descendant of Althing deputy Ólafur Proppé (1886-1949) and cousin of the musician Óttarr Proppé , who also belonged to the Althing from 2013 to 2017. He studied history and Icelandic at the University of Iceland ( BA 1998). Kolbeinn worked, among other things, as a freelance historian and translator as well as for several years as a journalist for the daily newspaper Fréttablaðið and has authored several non-fiction books for young people.

In the parliamentary elections on October 29, 2016 , Kolbeinn Óttarsson Proppé was elected as a candidate of the left-green movement for the constituency of Reykjavík South in the Icelandic parliament Althing. He was re-elected in the early parliamentary elections on October 28, 2017 . As of April 2019, he is a member of the parliamentary constitutional and supervisory committee and the committee for commercial affairs. He has been a member of the Icelandic delegation to the Nordic Council since 2017 .
