Kollau is a district of the Thallwitz municipality in the Leipzig district of the Free State of Saxony .

Geographical location

Kollau is located west of the Thallwitz parish on the east bank of the Mulde between Eilenburg in the north and Wurzen in the south. About one kilometer downstream is the Kollau weir, also known as the “Bobritzer Damm”.

history

Kollau, earlier also with the spelling "Collau", was first mentioned as "Kolowe" on November 10, 1248 in a document defining the boundaries of the Meissen bishopric . In 1791 Zischwitz came to Kollau as a district. Until 1815, Kollau belonged proportionally to the electoral and royal Saxon offices of Eilenburg and Wurzen . The manorial rule over the place was around 1747 with the manor Thallwitz , which belonged to the Wurzen office of the Wurzen monastery under the suzerainty of the Electorate of Saxony. As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Kollau came to Prussia in 1815 and in 1816 was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony , to which the place belonged until 1952.

During the administrative reform of the GDR, Kollau came to the Eilenburg district in the newly formed Leipzig district on July 25, 1952 . On December 4, 1952, it was reclassified to the Wurzen district and on January 1, 1957, it was incorporated into Thallwitz.
