Koloman Markart

Koloman Markart (born October 5, 1863 in Neubistritz , † December 19, 1933 in Bludenz ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAP ), shoemaker and consumer administrator. From 1918 to 1919 he was a member of the provisional state assembly of Vorarlberg .

education and profession

Markart completed an apprenticeship as a shoemaker and subsequently went on a hike . This brought him via Vienna to St. Pölten , Leoben , Rattenberg and finally to Rankweil in the summer of 1889 . Here he worked as a shoemaker from 1892 to 1906. In 1906 he became administrator of the consumer cooperative in Bludenz and at the same time founded the first consumer branches in Bludenz.

Politics and functions

MArkart became a member of the Social Democratic Party in St. Pölten in St. Pölten in 1885 and was later active as the first state chairman of the Social Democratic Party in Vorarlberg. In 1888 he became a member of the Workers' Education Association in Rankweil, worked from 1896 to 1900 as the first state shop steward and from 1899 as a district shop steward. He was also a co-founder of the Bludenz Workers' Home Association and temporarily held the position of deputy chairman of this association. Furthermore, he was a co-founder of the Arbeiter Gesangverein Bludenz and founded a smoking club in Rattenberg in 1887.

Markart ran for the first time in 1897 as a candidate for the Reichsrat election of the Social Democratic Party in Vorarlberg and in 1901 again ran for his party in this circle in the Reichsrat election . On both occasions, however, he failed to enter the House of Representatives of the Reichsrat. In 1910 he became a member of the city council of Bludenz and represented the Social Democratic Party between November 3, 1918 and June 16, 1919 in the provisional state assembly of Vorarlberg. Furthermore, during this time he was a substitute member of Fritz Preiss in the regional council. In the provisional state assembly, he was also a member of the finance committee of the state council.

Private

Koloman Markart was born as the son of the factory worker Franz Markart and his wife Theresia Schneider. He married Maria Anna Matt (1873–1950) in Rankweil on September 12, 1892 and between 1893 and 1911 was the father of a son and three daughters.
