Wuppertal

From 2003, the "Comödie am Karlsplatz " had a hall for 190 spectators in the rooms of a former supermarket on Karlsplatz , which had relocated to the City-Arkaden Wuppertal . From time to time there was close cooperation between the comedy and the municipal theater, the Wuppertaler Bühnen . In 2004 the comedy was allowed to guest in the Schauspielhaus and also borrow costumes from there. In June 2008, the company in Wuppertal was the first to close due to financial difficulties.

In spring 2016 it became known that the comedy was reopening under new management in response to the precarious theater situation in Wuppertal. The old theater hall was completely rebuilt, renovated and provided with new seating, now there is space for 190 spectators. A new gastronomic offer as well as a new ensemble should make the house more attractive for spectators. The Stuttgart theater director Cordula Polster became the new artistic director . On October 8, 2016, the theater, renamed Komödie Wuppertal , reopened with the play " Ein Bett für Vier ".

In January 2018, Cordula Polster decided to share the theater. To do this, she brought Kristof Stößel from the theater in the dance house on board and both ensembles played the house alternately on a monthly basis. After the surprising decision by Cordula Polster to close the theater on July 31, 2018 for economic reasons, Kristof Stößel took over the management completely. Since September 1, 2018, the theater has been called Stößels Komödie Wuppertal and has established itself as a leading boulevard theater in Wuppertal.
