The commandant of the North Friesland naval defense , or Maritime Commander North Friesland for short , was a regional coastal commander in the German Navy in World War II , who was subordinate to the commanding Admiral German Bight . The office was set up in November 1944, based in what was then the Hermann Tast Gymnasium , now the Hotel Altes Gymnasium in Husum . The area of ​​responsibility included the North Frisian Islands and the northern part of the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast. The only sea ​​commander was Captain Frank Aschmann, former and last sea ​​commander South Holland . He handed over his headquarters in Husum to the British occupation forces on May 6, 1945.
