Shattered Dreams is the 17th film in the crime series Kommissar Beck - The New Cases , which was produced in 2005 as the first film of the third season with Peter Haber and Mikael Persbrandt in the leading roles.

action

In the house of the mother of two Monika Everdag, her ex-husband is found stabbed to death. It quickly turns out that Monika Everdag was regularly abused, but not by her ex-husband, but by her (unknown by name) new boyfriend, who then becomes the main suspect. Beck puts together an investigation team that includes the young policeman Daniel Orrberg. What the others don't know is that Orrberg is the man they are looking for. He only takes part in the investigation to find Monika Everdag, who has sought refuge in a women's shelter, and to silence her. After several unsuccessful attempts, Orrberg tracks down Monika's secret accommodation and breaks into the apartment. However, Beck and Gunvald have now recognized Orrberg's real motivations and can arrest him in time.

Meanwhile, Gunvald finds out that a hospital has filed a complaint against his sister Lillemor's husband for domestic violence. Lillemor assures Gunvald, however, that Hugo, her husband, never hit her. A few days later, Lillemor is so badly injured in an argument by Hugo that she has to be hospitalized. When Gunvald rushes to his sister's house, he finds Hugo dead: while Lillemor and Hugo's little daughter is still sitting unsuspecting in front of the television when Gunvald arrives, Hugo has hanged himself in an attic room.

background

After a three-year break, the shooting of another 8-film season began in autumn 2005. As usual, the first film was shown in the cinema in Sweden (theatrical release on June 28, 2006 ); the free TV premiere is expected to take place around a year later, as the films will be released on DVD beforehand. In Germany there was no cinema presentation; the ZDF exuded the film on 5. November 2006 from the first time.
