Jan Weyrauch (born March 6, 1968 in Berlin ) is a German journalist and program director of Radio Bremen .

Life and work

During his studies at the FU Berlin ( theater studies ) and the German School of Journalism (DJS) in Munich , Weyrauch worked as a reporter and freelancer for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , the Berliner Zeitung and the Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). In 1991 he started radio at the SFB-Jugendwelle Radio 4U and from 1993 he helped to build up the Jugendwelle Fritz , a cooperation between ORB and SFB. Until 2001 he was editor and presenter of the morning show on this radio station.

In May 1997, Weyrauch set a new Guinness record in quick kissing as Fritz moderator : he kissed 80 women in three minutes.

Between 1997 and 1999 he brought out two books: " Somehow, somewhere, sometime : the 80s" (with Frauke Langguth) and " Boygroups : Das Teenie -FANomen der 90er".

In 2000 Weyrauch was awarded the Kurt Magnus Prize , which promotes qualified young talents in German radio.

In 2001 he became program manager at the then youth wave of the Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) " hr XXL " and after its relaunch and renaming in 2004 also for the successor " You FM ". The station was one of the first in Germany to offer a podcast .

From 2009 Weyrauch played a key role in the development and production of the weekly night program “ LateLine ”. In 2010 the cross-media format " Coldmirror " was developed, a broadcast for radio , television and the Internet in cooperation with You FM and EinsFestival . In 2011 the program received a nomination for “Best Innovation ” at the German Radio Prize .

On September 1, 2011, Jan Weyrauch was elected as the successor to Dirk Hansen as program director of Radio Bremen and has since been trimedially responsible for television, radio and online.

Many program innovations were created in Bremen under his leadership . The regional magazine " buten un binnen " was renovated in 2014 and expanded in 2016 by the online regional platform butenunbinnen.de. With Bremen Next , a new, cross-media program was started in 2016, specially geared towards 15 to 25-year-olds from the region with a high proportion of migrants . The information and culture wave Nordwestradio was modernized and renamed Bremen Zwei .

Jan Weyrauch also played a key role in the creation of “ funk ”, the online media offering from ARD and ZDF for teenagers and young adults. At the Bremen TV Prize , Weyrauch also guides the ARD presenter Frank Plasberg through the awards ceremony in the Radio Bremen event studio every year .
