LateLine (proper spelling: LateLine ) is the name of a call-in program broadcast on six youth waves of ARD aired April 12, 2010 to June 26, 2019 as the fourth joint project. In addition to the ARD Hit Night , the ARD Night Concert , the ARD Pop Night and the ARD Info Night , the Lateline was one of five ARD offers. After the broadcast, a podcast was also released for the show, which was usually available on the show's website or in a corresponding podcast app from the next day. In addition, some issues with Jan Böhmermann and, in his successor, Ingmar Stadelmann, were also broadcast on television at EinsPlus at irregular intervals .

concept

Each of the nightly talk shows has its own topic, which will be announced on the program's website during the day. However, there are almost always programs on the second Tuesday and third Wednesday of a month with a free choice of topic. Different areas of interest are covered, with the individual moderators also focusing on the content.

weekday April 2010 to March 2013 April to November 2013 December 2013 January to May 2014 since May 26, 2014 since October 1, 2018 from April 23, 2019
Monday Jens-Uwe Krause ( Bremen Four ) Ingmar Stadelmann ( You FM ) Johannes Sassenroth (You FM) no broadcast no broadcast no broadcast
Tuesday Holger Klein ( Fritz ) Ingmar Stadelmann (1LIVE, previously You FM) Ingmar Stadelmann or Claudia Kamieth
Wednesday Caroline Korneli (Fritz) Claudia Kamieth (Fritz) no broadcast
Thursday Jan Böhmermann changing moderators Johannes Sassenroth (You FM) no broadcast no broadcast

In 2013, three of the four moderators were replaced by new staff within just nine months. Caroline Korneli was the only one who stayed. The Lateline editorial team gave the reason for this decision that they intend "to provide new impetus after more than three years".

At irregular intervals, the moderators invite a studio guest to take part in the discussion.

In April 2019 the HR announced that the Lateline would be discontinued after 9 years, the last broadcast took place on June 25, 2019. However, the ARD youth radio stations agreed to produce further ARD-wide youth formats, for example, Die Junge Nacht has existed since 2018 the ARD .

Broadcast times

The program was last broadcast on Tuesdays from 10 p.m. to midnight on the following channels:

With the exception of Fritz, all programs have been there since the start of the show, with UnserDing and N-Joy only taking part on certain days of the week from the start. on3-radio , which until then had taken over all issues of Lateline, dropped out of the program in October 2010, and Fritz joined the group at the same time. Bremen Vier also got out of the Lateline at the end of September 2018.

The broadcast was thus taken over by six of the nine ARD youth radio stations. Only 1 Live , which operated its own talk show with Domian , as well as Puls , the successor to on3-radio , and Bremen Next do not take over the show.

particularities

  • At the beginning of each Lateline, a piece of music is played once in the broadcast, which Jan Böhmermann often announced as “Life Is A Rollercoaster” by Ronan Keating (alternatively: “She doesn't see me” by Xavier Naidoo ), where a different piece was actually played. At this point Holger Klein played “Am Wolkenberg” in the instrumental version of Concentrated Feed Mixer, while Caroline Korneli played “You Talk” from Babyshambles .
  • On April 16, 2012, a special program was broadcast from the Bundeswehr field camp in Mazar-e Sharif , Afghanistan with Johannes Sassenroth and the ARD South Asia correspondent Kai Küstner .
  • From the start of broadcasting until May 2014, the Lateline was broadcast almost without exception from Monday to Thursday, with the exception of New Year's Eve, including public holidays. Only on June 28, 2012, on the occasion of the European Football Championship 2012, a football special was broadcast instead of the Lateline. In 2013, however, for the first time because of "Christmas holidays" from December 24th. no lateline sent until December 26th.

Special case Fritz

Fritz has his own, much older talk show called Blue Moon , which traditionally runs daily from 10 p.m. to midnight. In order to save money, the RBB decided in October 2010 to take over the Lateline on Tuesdays and Wednesdays instead of producing its own Blue Moon . In order to bridge the different transmission times of the two programs, a three-hour Lateline (from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.) was de facto produced between October 2010 and September 2018 on these two days of the week, with the first hour being broadcast as Blue Moon and only running on Fritz , the second and the third hour as Lateline on all connected programs (including Fritz). Since October 2018, the airtime of Blue Moon and Lateline has been identical from 10 p.m. to midnight.

In November and December 2012, the Thursday Lateline went on tour with Jan Böhmermann. Running gag was speculation that on December 21, 2012, the end of the world could be expected. In the cities of Bremen , Frankfurt am Main , Baden-Baden , Magdeburg and Hanover , five programs were broadcast in front of an audience. These special programs were also televised on EinsPlus . The second season was broadcast on EinsPlus from April 2013 . The parallel broadcast took place every second Thursday from April 11th to July 4th. All programs were broadcast from the Weserhaus in Bremen, only the last broadcast was recorded on a ship on the Weser in front of the broadcasting center. Another five-episode season aired every Thursday from November 21, 2013 to December 19, 2013. In April 2014, the fourth season with Ingmar Stadelmann (Tuesdays) and Caroline Korneli (Wednesdays) was broadcast. The fifth season with Ingmar Stadelmann followed in 2015.
