ARD night concert

The ARD night concert is the second night program on the radio of the German state broadcasting corporations of the ARD . It started on March 2, 1980 as an offer of classical music and an alternative to light music of the first night program, ARD-Hitnacht (formerly ARD-Nachtexpress ).

After broadcasting every night from 0:05 a.m. to 2:00 a.m., the ARD night concert was gradually extended from 1985 to 6:00 a.m. For this purpose, the classic program of Deutschlandfunk was initially taken over temporarily between 2:00 and 4:00 . Later, the hour from 4:00 to 5:00 was created by the MDR . In the meantime, however, the entire broadcasting time is given uniformly by a state broadcaster, until mid-2011, similar to the first night program, alternating at regular intervals.

Since July 4, 2011, BR-Klassik has been solely responsible for the design of the ARD night concert. Recordings and concert recordings from all German state broadcasters as well as international orchestras and ensembles will continue to be taken into account.

Donating programs until 2011

Until July 3, 2011, the night concert was alternately organized by different broadcasters. The broadcasting scheme of the giving institutions changed several times over the course of time. It followed a four-week rhythm. In the following overview, the day of the week is meant to which the new day belongs. The status is as of July 3, 2011.
