Night program (ARD radio)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Most ARD radio programs offer community night programs at night . They are each produced by a state broadcaster and taken over by several others.

History of origin

Previously completed both radio - and television programs of ARD her daily radio program at night between 23:00 and 24:00 and illuminated just before the shutdown of the station the closedown of. The carrier was then switched off or a test image was displayed until the daily broadcasts were resumed the next day.

To close this nocturnal break in broadcasting, the NWDR began broadcasting the first ARD night program on November 2, 1947 . This idea was also taken up and implemented in August 1948 by Radio Frankfurt . However, it was a question of regional program formats with a cultural content, which did not completely bridge the night.

Nightly cultural programs such as the evening studio of the hr or the night studio of the SWF Baden-Baden were designed in a similar way.

In 1959, the ARD ended its nocturnal supply shortage at most radio stations and broadcast the joint night program produced by a program on radio almost across Germany. It was not until July 1, 1959 that the first regular community service in the ARD medium-wave range came about with “Music until early morning” and thus finally closed the nocturnal program gap. The ARD had thus on the night of the program in the DDR stationed Germany station responds, the radio silence of the ARD radio stations with his send strong medium-wave transmitter equalizer and shift workers wanted to achieve the FRG with its propagandistic night program. Die Zeit wrote in 1954:

“The radio program is a department store with many departments. The most luxurious radio goods are called 'night programs' or 'night studios'. As the listener research has shown, these demanding late-evening programs are only heard by five to ten percent of the audience. But even that is, roughly calculated, 300,000 to 600,000 listeners in the broadcasting range of the NWDR alone. "

By 1968, the state broadcasters had expanded their radio program to a 24-hour program.
