Darmstadt municipal police
The Darmstadt Municipal Police is the field service of the Ordnungsamt ( City Police ) of the City of Darmstadt and was founded at the end of 2007. It used to be known as the Municipal Auxiliary Police .
The Hessian Law on Public Safety and Order (HSOG) applies under police law.
The police work very closely with the Hessian police , the federal police as well as with the customs and federal office for goods traffic . The cooperation also includes mixed pedestrian and city strips. As part of the security and law enforcement partnership with the Police Headquarters South Hesse, not only joint controls and patrols are carried out, but emergency situations are also dealt with together.
history
In Hesse, following an amendment to the Hessian Hazard Defense Act, the designation Ordnungspolizei was introduced for the Ordnungsamt. Many municipalities then also changed the vehicle labels. Especially in Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt there were protests against this renaming, as this term was also used for part of the police during National Socialism (see Ordnungspolizei under National Socialism ). The inscriptions in Frankfurt and Darmstadt were therefore initially changed back to the Ordnungsamt .
Since the end of 2007, the field service of the public order office has been called the Darmstadt Municipal Police . Unlike the Frankfurt City Police , both tasks, i.e. the monitoring of stationary and flowing traffic and monitoring and investigative tasks from areas for which the municipalities are responsible in Hesse, are taken over by the Darmstadt municipal police .

Powers
The employees of the municipal police have the powers of a law enforcement officer (Section 99 (2) Hessian Law on Public Safety and Order [HSOG]). You have the following skills:

uniform
The police have been wearing a new blue uniform since the end of 2007, which is similar to the uniform of the Hessian police.
vehicles
The Darmstadt municipal police mainly use Skoda vehicles as official vehicles . The vehicles are mostly purchased in silver and then provided with a blue, narrow strip with lettering that goes around the vehicle.
