The head is supposed to symbolize the perseverance , intelligence and foresight of this most important Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany . It is one of the most frequently photographed monuments in Bonn. The Chancellor's family objected to the idea of placing the sculpture in front of his former home in Rhöndorf . The sculpture is a gift from the federal government to the city of Bonn.
