Konrad Hummel

Konrad Hummel (born February 28, 1923 in Metzingen ; † December 30, 2014 ) was a German laboratory physician and biostatistician and from 1960 professor for blood group serology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau .

Life

Konrad Hummel studied human medicine in Freiburg and Tübingen ; he passed the state examination in Freiburg, the doctorate to Dr. med. took place in Tübingen in 1947. In 1948 he became a research assistant at the Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau, where he completed his habilitation in 1954 . In 1960 he was made an adjunct professor and in 1974 director of the Institute for Blood Group Serology at the University of Freiburg, where he remained until his retirement in 1988. After leaving the civil service, he opened a private institute for blood group serology and genetics , which he headed until July 2000. Konrad Hummel also became known as an expert on parentage reports.
