Peter Him

Peter Ihm (born December 29, 1926 in Darmstadt ; † March 24, 2014 ) was a German bioinformatician and from 1966 professor for medical-biological statistics and documentation at the University of Marburg .

Life

He passed his Abitur in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1946 and then studied biology and mathematics at the Universities of Freiburg and Paris . In 1953 he received his doctorate. rer. nat. and was then until 1955 a research grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Botanical Institute of the University of Freiburg . 1955–1958 he worked as a biometer (statistician) at the Paul Ehrlich Institute in Frankfurt am Main . 1958–1960 he was a scientific assistant at the Botanical Institute of the University of Freiburg. He then worked for EURATOM in Brussels and Ispra until 1966 . In 1966 he was appointed full professor at the Institute for Medical-Biological Statistics and Documentation at the University of Marburg. In 1967 he and Gunter Mann initiated the establishment of the German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information .
