Hans Joachim Jesdinsky

Hans Joachim Jesdinsky (born January 27, 1931 , Düsseldorf ; † October 30, 1986 , in Ticino ) was Professor of Biomathematics and Statistics at the University of Düsseldorf from 1975 .

Life

Jesdinsky studied medicine in Bonn with August Wilhelm von Eiff as well as in Cologne and Innsbruck and then did his doctorate at the University of Bonn with Paul Martini . He completed his habilitation under Edward Walter (1925–1984) at the Institute for Medical Statistics and Documentation at the University of Freiburg (1969) and worked there on test planning in the laboratory and clinic. Jesdinsky then worked for two years at Merck, Darmstadt (planning and evaluating clinical and animal studies).

In 1973 Jesdinsky was made an adjunct professor and in April 1975 he took over the newly created chair for medical statistics and biomathematics at the University of Düsseldorf. He was a specialist in epidemiology and clinical trial design .

Jesdinsky worked as a reviewer for the Federal Health Office and the German Research Foundation , among others . He was also active in numerous specialist organizations, in particular in the German Society for Medical Documentation, Informatics and Statistics (GMDS) , which posthumously made him an honorary member.

Hans Joachim Jesdinsky was killed in a fall while hiking in the mountains.

He was the father of eight children, including the painter Bertram Jesdinsky and the soprano Clementine Jesdinsky.
