Konrad Hustaedt (born November 26, 1874 in Neustrelitz ; † October 17, 1948 there ) was a German local researcher , art historian and curator .

Life

Konrad Hustaedt was the son of the builder Ferdinand Hustädt and his wife Hermine, nee. Nauwerck. He attended the grammar school in Neustrelitz, but apparently left it without a high school diploma and chose a vocational training course in construction. He then studied art history and building construction in Charlottenburg , Rostock and Munich , also worked for a time on excavations in Athens , toured the Peloponnese , Sicily and France .

In 1904 Hustaedt returned to Neustrelitz and settled down as a private scholar and after the death of his father took over the management of his father's property. In 1916, Hustaedt joined the Mecklenburg-Strelitz state service, helped set up the Mecklenburg-Strelitz State Museum in Neustrelitz as a research assistant and was appointed curator three years later. Hustaedt was friends with Walter Karbe and from 1925 a member of the Mecklenburg-Strelitzer Association for History and Local Studies (# 276).

Works

Hustaedt was a prolific publicist with a certain predilection for the art history of his closer Mecklenburg homeland and in particular the history of the theater and Neustrelitz town.

Hustaedt's private estate consists of about 85% of hard-to-read handwritten records that are in the Neustrelitz city archive.
