Konrad Koenig

Konrad "Conny" König (born July 31, 1961 ) is a former Austrian amateur boxer . He is the son of the former boxer Rupert König .

The trained banker was Austrian lightweight champion in 1979, Austrian light welterweight champion in 1980 and 1981, and Austrian welterweight champion from 1982 to 1986. With eight national championship titles, he and Biko Botowamungu are fourth among the most successful amateur boxers nationally and is only surpassed by his father Rupert with nine titles, Jürgen König from Vorarlberg with eleven titles and Manfred Dimter from Tyrol with 14 titles.

He was a participant in the 1st World Junior Championship in 1979 in Yokohama , where he won the bronze medal in the light welterweight division. He won another bronze medal in the welterweight division at the 1984 World Military Championships in Jinja .

In 1984 he took part in the welterweight division at the 24th Summer Olympics in Los Angeles , but lost in the preliminary round against the Tunisian Khemais Refai.

He also took part in the 1980 European Junior Championships in Rimini , the 1981 European Championships in Tampere and the 1982 World Championships in Munich , but without reaching the medal ranks.

After his active career, he became a state-certified apprentice and runs a boxing club in Hallein .
