Konrad Krzyżanowski

Konrad Krzyżanowski (born February 15, 1872 in Kremenchuk , † May 25, 1922 in Warsaw ) was a Polish painter of early expressionism .

He began his studies in Kiev at the painting school of Nikolai Murashko and continued it at the Saint Petersburg Russian Art Academy , where he came under the influence of Archip Ivanovich Kuindschi . In 1897 he came to Munich to study at the painting school of Simon Hollósy .

In 1900 he came to Warsaw , where he founded a private painting school together with Kazimierz Stabrowski . 1904–1909 he taught at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts. He then spent four years in Paris and London .

After the outbreak of World War I , he spent three years in Podolia and with relatives in Volhynia . 1917–1918 he taught at the Polish School of Fine Arts in Kiev .

After the war he came back to Warsaw, where he reactivated his painting school. One of his students was Edward Kokoszko .
