Konrad Mauser

Konrad Mauser (* around 1500 in Nuremberg ; † October 23, 1548 in Wittenberg ) was a German legal scholar.

Life

The son of Otto Mauser had enrolled at the University of Leipzig in the summer semester of 1520 , came to the University of Wittenberg on December 21, 1524 and in 1529 married a councilor's daughter from Wittenberg. In 1530 he obtained a licentiate in law as a prerequisite for an academic teaching post, which he then exercised as a substitute for the institutions since 1531 for Benedikt Pauli . In 1536 he is named as professor of the institutions. He was a member of the board of rulings of the law faculty, the jury chair and the Wittenberg court. Finally, in 1544 he also became an assessor in the Wittenberg consistory, which was made up of lawyers and theologians . Four years later he died prematurely in Wittenberg.

Mauser's works are known to have commented on various institutional titles that have gained importance. This includes an important piece of work on marriage and a pamphlet on procedural law. The instructions for conducting the judicial process received several edited editions well into the 17th century. His writings were published by his son of the same name.
