Konrad Richter

Konrad Richter (born October 7, 1903 in Stettin , † August 12, 1979 in Hanover ) was a German geologist who mainly dealt with Quaternary research . He was professor and head of the Geological Institute at the TU Hannover . He was also a regional geologist at the Lower Saxony State Office for Soil Research .

Richter received his doctorate in 1927 at the University of Greifswald ( stratigraphy and development history of the Central Pomeranian Tertiary Heights ) and completed his habilitation in 1933 ( structure and composition of the north German young moraine area ), deducing the flow direction of the glaciers from the bed load control.

Together with Paul Woldstedt and Rudolf Grahmann in 1948 he was one of the founders of the German Quaternary Association .

In 1970 he received the Albrecht Penck Medal .

A boulder on the dam of the Innerste dam is named after him.
