German Quaternary Association

The German Quaternary Association (DEUQUA) is a German scientific society for the promotion of Quaternary research . It was founded in Hanover in 1948 on the initiative of Paul Woldstedt , Rudolf Grahmann and Konrad Richter . The registered office of the non-profit company is Hanover. It holds its general meetings every two years and publishes the magazine Eiszeitalter und Gegenwart (from 1951), which appears quarterly. The first conference was in Hanover in 1948.

The company awards the Albrecht Penck Medal and the Paul Woldstedt Prize.

It is the German section of the International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA).
